Everyone needs a hobby and you’d think that collecting stamps in my passport might be mine. Â It’s not. Â I do collect currency from each country we visit, but that’s not it either. Â Nope, I like to collect beer from other countries. Â Not to be displayed on a shelf anywhere, but enjoyed and then a memento photo that I’ve tried it.
Through our travels I’ve made it my goal to try as many different beers in each country we visit as possible. Â Sometimes I succeed and have 5-6 different beers to show for each stop, although sadly there have been a few places we’ve either passed through too quickly (Ecuador) or the only local brew was on the other side of the island and out of my reach (Bermuda). Â Any time I get a chance though I will saddle up to the bar and ask for a local beer.
Much to the agitation of Matt who always seems to prefer a sugary soda over an ice cold beer, I’ve been able to drag him to multiple bars and restaurants around the world, and I think I’ve managed to build up an impressive list so far.
Keep checking back to watch it grow, and who knows, if we ever meet on the water or a shore side pub, maybe we’ll enjoy a cold beer together.
(Some of my photos are on a hard drive that I do not have at the moment, so a few images may be stock photos until I can get to my own again)

Have you considered a ranking system of the beers you try? I would love to see what you think of each beer so that readers can maybe try some of the same while traveling!
I hadn’t thought of that and now I don’t remember much on some that I’ve already tried. But maybe I’ll start now. 🙂
There is an app for this called Untappd. It’s available for iPhone and Android. You can follow other people as well as see what other beers they’ve tried. If you’re on it, let me know what your username is and I’d be glad to follow!
I didn’t know about that, we’re not really app people since we don’t have a phone or even internet service very much. But I’ll have to take a look at it. 🙂
Give Victoria Lager a try if you get back to the Yucatan. It’s made in Merida and is an excellent lager.
I actually do remember having that at one point in Mexico, but I must not have had my camera on me at the time. So I went to a local Mexican restaurant last night and had it again, made sure to snap a photo this time! 🙂

For when you get near the internet sometime, I always enjoyed this animated beer label site. It’s fun!

I’ve also enjoyed your stories about your life on the sea. Looks like a great life style.
Thanks Molly! I’ll have to make sure to check out the beer label sitr, thanks for the tip!

Hi Jessica,
You have done a great job. I love your sequence and appreciate you for your lovely post. Among them, it will not be difficult to choose top propane burners brewing beer. Your list will help more…. Thanks for your amazing post….
Hi Jessica…I am a beer girl… love trying as many as possible… If you guys even sail into St. Simons Island, GA let us know we will buy you a local beer! We are thinking of going to one of the islands in the Caribbean, will be our first time. What island was your favorite? Thank you
When you get to New Zealand try a ‘Speights’ the beer for the Southern Man (or woman). You will get the Southern Man bit when you get here. Cheers.
Hi Jessica, I remember drinking beer from what we called “dumpies” in Cape Town years ago like the Jamaica red stripe beer.
Thanks for the memory it’s been too long. Can’t remember the brand. Red something I think!
The other poor mans drink was called “old brown sherry” came in gallon jugs!
Guinness is my only occasional ‘tipple’ now.
Cheers Warren.
Haha, what an amazing idea! Will have to see how many we can rack up on our travels!
Hi Jessica & Matt.
Have been watching your adventures with your “new” “old” aluminium yacht, and am absolutely amazed with what you have achieved and what you got have planned. Have enjoyed all your videos referbing your pride and joy. I hope you have many years safe cruising where ever you go!
Today as we approach xmas your u tube is just showing you in the Azores with the intent of going to Ireland and eventually off to the ice, after, i think, visiting the uk.
Off to the Ice, that is way different to some of the what the others are doing, even though Caribbean and pacific are also amazing. (ie, Delos, Vagabond, Uma, learning the lines & Wynms etc which are also inspiring)
Hopefully when I retire in a few yrs time I can also realise my dreams. (OAP sailing around the world might be my channel, taking my dog, windsurfer, bikes and scuba stuff as a minimum )
I live in the Uk, North England, and the local harbour is Whitehaven. (My ambition in life is to eventually visit Whitehaven beach in the Whitsundays, preferably on my own yacht, but I will be happy if i get there even if by tourist routes)
Jessica, (also my fav name cause its my 19 yr old daughters name lol ), if you ever come to Whitehaven, I can offer transport to lots of local pubs in the Lake district area with GREAT, LOCALLY BREWED BEAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Even Matt might be impressed, If not could leave him at the dock to do boat stuff, Ha Ha .
The Lake District is full of things to do. You could spend weeks here and do different things every day, Sightseeing, cycling, mountain biking, walking in the mountains, camping, Tourist spots!!!!!!!!, etc etc.
Wishing you both a merry Xmas and outstanding new yr
Martin
